BioMediacy Founder
Omar Kahly was born and raised in Fremont, California to Egyptian immigrants who instilled the value of health and education to seek the American Dream. Accessing social benefits that allotted resources from mental health to tax assistance, opened doors of financial and medical stability for Omar’s family. Forever grateful, Omar served on his city’s Family Resource Center on the Community Engagement Board where he represented his school district to advocate for greater mental health and college planning resources for his peers. Omar became passionate about reforming his community’s inaccessibility to health and financial services. Like others, economic constraints and a lack of guidance as a first-generation student bared struggles to attain a college education. Omar soon grew an appreciation for the invaluable online resources and mentorship of the new age of digital information provided to break down barriers in education and health, empowering him to reach higher heights. Reaching out for pro-bono SAT tutoring to earn a Stanford’s School of Medicine scholarship to study medicine laid out the appropriate discipline to attend the University of California, Berkeley to study Molecular and Cellular Biology.
Omar launched Biomediacy in May 2020 in response to the COVID-19 crisis ravaging throughout the world. Specifically, to make medical and financial support accessible for families facing the pandemic’s misfortunes using community resource referrals and outlined Medi-Cal Services. As a Medical Assistant for Sutter Health and social worker for the UCSF Health Advocates program, Omar recognized the tribulations families endure while not only accessing health but understanding the extent of their health conditions. Biomediacy’s aim has since targeted this pitfall with research-based evidence to provide information on their diagnoses, available treatment, and costs.
